Background & Brief

The Northern Ireland Policing Board is an independent body made up of 19 members to ensure the delivery of an effective, efficient, accountable and impartial police service that will secure the confidence of the whole community.

The Policing Board commissioned Tibus to deliver a web site that would provide a platform for ongoing communications with media, the general public, political parties, government and NI Police Service personnel.

Specifically, this involved the development of a design and content structure for the site that would meet the needs of as wide a cross-section of the intended audiences as possible, and would give the Policing Board control over content by implementing the Livelink content management system.

Services
  • Review of the Policing Board's audiences and information needs, as well as internal Policing Board structures
  • Development of the site graphic design and content priorities in line with branding guidelines
  • Configuration and integration of the design and content with the Livelink content management platform
  • Training and guidance in the publishing of content on the web site
  • Provision of ongoing maintenance and development services

Results

The Policing Board is now in a position to use its web site as a primary communications platform, given the level of control the site editors have over content, and the immediacy and simplicity of that control.

Although technology and design were obviously required in delivery, the key issues to be tackled on the project were around structure, content priority and language.

The site now provides clear and effective communication of the Policing Board's remit and responsibilities, and is flexible in structure and design, allowing the site to work effectively on an ongoing basis.
